the most important parts

Everyone knows what a brain is, though its function and components aren't always among common knowledge.

What is it?

All throughout your lifetime, from adolescents to seniors, your brain is always at work. It's commonly known as the main command center. It controls your main nervous systems, allowing you to do the simplest things. Of course, the human brain has the same basic structure as many other mammal and their cousin's brains, but it's as well unique in its own way. It receives signals from the body's sensory organs and outputs information to the limbs and muscles. It works along side the heart in order to keep you alive.

The largest part of the human brain is called the cerebrum. It's divided into two hemispheres according to the Mayfield Clinic. The outer layer of the cerebrum is called the cerebral cortex, which consists of four lobes. Which gets confused with the prefrontal cortex a lot. But in short, they're the same thing anyways. Underneath the cerebrum is the brainstem, and behind that is the cerebellum. Visual processing takes place in the back of the lobe, which when you fall on your back and hit your head, your vision can falter. Damage to your frontal lobe of course, is not going to mess up your eyesite. But, it will lead to either serious long term/permanent injury, or eventually death.

Overall brain size does not correlate with general intelligence. Though, people (mainly teens,) would combine brain size with intelligence and use it as an insult. (ex; I bet your brain is smaller than a peanut.) But thankfully, that isn't true. Think of how big a sperm whale's brain is, a sperm whale's brain is five times heavier than the human's brain, but a human is considered on a higher level of intelligence than a sperm whale (hopefully.) A more accurate measure of how intelligent something could be would be to compare the ratio of it's brain size and it's body size.
